I hope you enjoyed the Health Tips over the last couple of weeks.

This week I want to explore a topic that comes up very often with the coaching clients I work with, and which I also observe with friends and family.

It is a whole mix of “P” words.

I have talked at length about how PRIDE holds us back from the full expression of our true potential and its relationship to our ability to raise of our level of consciousness. So although Pride is in the mix of the P’s I won’t detail it again in this article.

The other day I was with a client and we really started to explore why they are doing what they are doing.

And whether it was what they really wanted to do, or were they motivated by other reasons (a few of those “P’s” for example) and what was the cost.

So that is the catalyst for where we are heading today.

Essentially if we don’t have health, vitality and energy, it is hard to stretch yourself into your FULL POTENTIAL.

Achieving your big hairy audacious goals (BHAG) requires a large amount of consistent, high-grade energy.

So this health stuff is essential.

Are You Actually Looking at The Root Cause?

Again…Happy New Year!!

Let’s make this the year of living even more consciously, so the steps we take, and the footprints we leave, are in harmony with life, which also brings a lightness of being to our souls.

One way I think we can do a better job of being conscious, is not getting too distracted by surface level stuff, but curiously looking deeper for the actual root causes.

Hands up if you got ‘sick’ in, or around, the Xmas period or New Year?

This article is inspired by the first two clients I spoke to this year, who told me they were crook with the mighty “flu”.

The great thing about discovering the root cause, is we can then utilize the most effective intervention to get the best possible sustainable and long-term result.

So let’s look at potential root causes in relation to us getting crook.

The Relationship Tip of All Relationship Tips

As we head into the Xmas season (as I am writing this), you are bound to bump up against people that “rub you up the wrong way”.

Would I be correct in saying?

Chances are; the more people you interact with, the higher likelihood you have of bumping into those special people in life who challenge you in every interaction.

There are some people that just trigger you.

With Xmas festivities coming, there is a high likelihood you will bump into them.

Or need to spend several days in their presence!!

They might even be people who you truly love…

…but they frustrate the living beegeezus out of you!!

9 times out of 10, the reason they trigger you is due to what I am about to share…

How ‘Pride’ Holds Back (Our) True Potential

You know I am big on the consciousness thing.

You also know I am big on the EVOLUTION thing.

YOUR EVOLUTION.

I want us all to evolve into our fullest potential.

Plus to experience the most JOYFUL and BLISSFUL life experience (day-to-day).

I also believe at my core the human potential we have to date witnessed is still WAY short of our possibility.

There are a whole bunch of genes not expressed in our DNA, which are just waiting to be unlocked.

So, let’s help this evolutionary process.

And let’s do it in an super practical way.

That is, with a little help from Dr David Hawkins and his Map of Consciousness work.

And yes, I have talked about this before, but because it is SO important, I want to really zero in on one particular aspect that holds back almost all my clients.

Emotional Eating Does Not Solve The Root Cause

In order to keep these conversations with you relevant, I like to draw on real-life experiences I am exposed to (generally with my coaching clients).

This was as a result of a conversation with a client the other day.

The context is they wanted to better understand why (exactly) – when they are upset – they quaff a couple of glasses of wine, while snacking thorough a bunch of chocolate bars.

I think we might all identify this as ’emotional eating’.

You experience a negative emotional state, which leads to binge eating.

And unfortunately, the binge eating generally does not involve carrot or celery sticks and a homemade organic dip.

It is most often high calorie, low nutrient, foods.

Why? Why? Why?

And what to do?

Is Your Emotional Fuel Healing or Harming You?

Let’s get straight into this conversation, starting with some context.

Do all petrochemical fuels, derived from oil, burn the same? Do they all burn as cleanly as each other? Do some burn faster or slower? Do some produce more heat than others? Do some fuels leave a cloud of black (polluting) smoke in their wake?

Let’s acknowledge that not all fuels burn the same, even if they derive from the same source.

So today, we are going to talk about the FUEL of our emotions.

And this is inspired by a good mate of mine who I have known for decades, and has had recent heart surgery.

He has always been great in the fitness and nutrition department, but as I highlight in the subtitle of The Guidebook to Optimum Health, exercise and nutrition alone are not enough for optimum health.

The BEST Relationship Strategy

The author of this book and strategy (Gary Chapman) is a relationship councellor, who discovered that there are five principle ways we express our LOVE in a relationship, and alternatively there are PRIMARY ways we wish to receive the expression of love (back to us) in our relationships.

I recorded a video 5 years ago (complete with whiteboard) to explain to you the full strategy and how to use it.

Are You Doing the (Essential) Inner Work?

PART 2: DOING THE ‘INNER WORK’

In my last post I talked about the importance of working on the inner environment, in order for us to experience optimum health – physically, mentally, emotionally, psychologically and even spiritually.

Today, I am going to take the conversation a little deeper, as we talk about what the inner work actually looks like.

First let us establish a few foundational pieces:

  • Thoughts and feelings (emotions) have a chemical effect within the body.
  • Thoughts and feelings have an electromagnetic effect within the body and its field.
  • Past traumatic experiences, if not resolved, can have effects in the present.
  • Hoping our past doesn’t impact our present, generally doesn’t work.
  • Neuroscientists suggest that we are only consciously aware of our thoughts, feelings and even behaviours, about 2-8% of the time. When we are not fully present in the moment, we go into our unconscious autopilot ‘programs’. To understand this deeper check out – The Successful Mind.
  • Essentially non-physical things (emotions) can have physical effects on the body.
  • Physical interventions (medication, surgery, radiation, and even exercise & nutrition) don’t necessarily heal the root cause of emotional or physical symptoms.

Discover The Missing Part in Most Health Strategies

The missing part in health strategies.

MY 2-PART ‘HEALTH SOLVING’ STRATEGY

I know you know – especially if you actually read my blogs – that the universe is made up of the seen and the unseen. The physical and non-physical. Energy and matter.

Therefore, it stands to reason that if we want to ‘solve’ something, we might need to work on both the seen, and the unseen.

It has been my experience over the last 52 years, and particularly in the last 23-years that I have been immersed in the personal development and optimum health field, that if you just focus on solving things in the ‘outer’ world (the seen or physical), you will get a 50% effective (or less) outcome.

So essentially my 2-part health solving strategy, is about doing the OUTER work as well as doing the INNER work.
