5 of The Best Health Tips For Increased Vitality and Longevity

longevityI guess the first tip could be something like this…do a trek in Nepal or join me next year for a trek in Tibet. 😉

Since the Tibet trip is several months off, I will offer you 5 other great tips to keep you going for now.Let’s get straight into them.

Tip #1 for increased Vitality & Longevity: Based on Einstein’s definition of insanity

Are you familiar with Einsteins quote about INSANITY.
Essentially it was about doing what you have always done and ‘hoping’ for a different result. It’s like putting the same (wrong) ingredients into a cake mix and expecting the end result to be a great cake. NUP! Insanity. 😉

So the first tip is that the greatest changes to our health, vitality and longevity are going to come to making changes. By working on changing some of our lifestyle habits; since they are the ones that are most repetitively creating the results you are getting.

The first tip to get new and amazing results with your health and vitality is that you need to be ready, willing and committed to CHANGE.

If you keep doing what you have always done, you will keep getting what you have always got.

So in the following Tips, know that if you actually change, and make them a part of your lifestyle choices, you will ABSOLUTELY get a new result. That is science. New ingredients = NEW CAKE. 😉

Tip #2 for increased Vitality & Longevity: The truth about dietary fat and sugar

It is VERY clear these days that the war on ‘fat’ was way off the mark. Like the war on terror and weapons of mass destruction. Bad ideas that were capitalised on, to make profit, with the end users suffering. I.e. populations did not get healthier or leaner as a result of going fat-free, but quite the opposite occurred.

Obviously it was not just the fat-free that caused the issues, it was what replaced fat.

And that is where our sweet – but not so sweet on our bodies – friend came into the picture.
SUGAR (and all’s it equivalents – corn syrup, dextrose, fructose sweetener, etc.)

Excessive sugar intake messes with the management and storage of energy in the body and the storage of triglycerides (a variety of fat) in the fat cells of the body. Excessive sugar intake, which disrupts the production and management if insulin in the body, is most likely to lead to insulin resistance or Type II Diabetes. Which are lifestyle diseases/conditions and reversible with lifestyle changes (such as a change of diet and regular exercise).

You are a smart person; so I don’t need to bang on. If you want great health and great vitality, plus avoidance of dis-ease (and inflammation) in your body, significantly reduce your intake of sugar.

Which is best done by significantly reducing your intake of processed foods.
Lean towards a whole-food plant-based diet.

Tip #3 for increased Vitality & Longevity: Get some sleep

As you are figuring out; this health thing is not rocket science.
The real rocket science comes in when you realise just how powerful, wise and intelligent our bodies are. Their ability to repair, rejuvenate and regenerate the cells in our bodies is AMAZING.

Our intelligent bodies will do the inner work if we help create the environment that is conducive to that happening.

One of the times our bodies do their most effect inner work, is while we sleep. And it sort of makes logical sense to me, that if we spend too little time sleeping or get highly disruptive sleep, then the body does not have the time and space to do enough of the inner work.

So, are you getting enough sleep?
Are you turning off the TV at a reasonable hour?
Are you getting enough sleep that you wake up (without an alarm preferably) and feel deeply rested?

Sleep is a very powerful influencer of your health, energy and longevity.
Make sure you are getting enough.

Tip #4 for increased Vitality & Longevity: Are you yoga’ing?

I know that you know that you need to move your body to have optimum health. 🙂
And you might even know that you need to move it every day if possible. For extended periods of time, with differing levels of intensity, and using a range of differing muscle groups.

I also believe that of all of the physical activity systems available, the one that has the most return on investment is yoga. It is highly effective for you physically, mentally, emotionally and even spiritually (increasing your connection to something greater than yourself).

That is why I recommend to all of my clients to do at least one, and preferably 2-3 yoga sessions a week as part of their physical activity regime. It is a game changer – not only physically, but mentally.

Are you yoga’ing? Are you ready to add it into the program? To give it a try and experience the results for yourself. There is a reason it has been around for over 3,000 years, and continues to gain popularity globally.

The reason is: It works!! 😉

So check out a class this week and let me know how it goes.

Tip #5 for increased Vitality & Longevity: Doing the inner work

The way we think (i.e. the meaning we give to the occurrences in our lives) causes us to feel a certain way.
The feelings we trigger cause a cascade of chemistry and biology to occur in our bodies. Those feelings and the activation of our nervous system also causes the turning on, and turning off, of certain genes in our bodies (called epigenetics).

In essence, our thoughts have a HUGE impact on our health. They can impact the levels of cortisol we have in our blood stream. They can cause the disruption of our digestive system. They can cause the disruption to our immune system (when we go into a reactive fight or flight response). They can cause a disruption to the heart and subsequent circulatory system.

Our thoughts can also do the opposite. They can turn on the genes of healing, vitality and longevity.

One of the most effective ways to do the inner work, and positively impact our health, is to increase your awareness of your thoughts and thinking. And then challenging your thoughts. Thoughts are not true because we have them. Most of our thoughts are rubbish and nothing more than static electricity in the brain or expired and out-of-date programs.

When you have a thought that makes you feel like crap. Really ask yourself if it is true. Go deeper. Don’t make assumptions. Don’t allow yourself to be reactive and stuck in old stories.

Do the inner work. Challenge your own thinking.
If you change the MEANING of anything in your life, you change the biochemistry in your body. Therefore YOU change its impact on the health and vitality of your body.

Did I say, do the inner work?
(And if you are still not sure what that means, send me a message, or read any one of my books ;-))

IN SUMMARY

Yes. You are right. Again. 😉
Most of these Tips (if not all of them) are reminders.

But knowing what to do is not enough. It is the doing of what you know which is the catalyst for new results, new levels of vitality and a long and adventurous life opportunity.

What are you not doing, that you know is best for you?
Enough of the excuses. Love yourself enough to do what needs to be done, and to heck with whatever anyone else thinks or wants for you. Carve your own path to greatness.

You’ve got this!

And of course if you want to go deeper grab yourself a copy of The Guidebook to Optimum Health.
I wrote the book for you, not just for my entertainment. 😉

And as I said in the last Newsletter; here’s to playing the long-term game of a vital and energetic life!! 😉
