In this great book, ‘Loving What Is’ by Byron Katie, she introduces us to the idea that the greatest amount of emotional pain we experience in our lives is because of the stories and statements that we buy into.
The stories that we tell ourselves are more based on assumptions than reality. And one of Byron Katie’s greatest reminders is in her statement “When I argue with reality I lose. But only 100% of the time.” She has also developed 4 amazing questions, which she simply calls The Work, which are profound in their simplicity and effect. A great book. A BRILLIANT Happiness Strategy!
The title just sounds too good. Imagine a world where there was no complaining, criticizing and gossiping. That is a pretty good picture from where I am standing. In Will Bowen’s great book ‘A Complaint Free World‘ he shares a practice that he has developed where people challenge themselves to go for 21 consecutive days without complaining, criticizing or gossiping and what this does on your general well being.
It is a great happiness strategy in that it takes your attention away from what is ‘wrong’ in a situation, so you can allow the ‘great’ to be expressed and also to focus on ‘solutions’ rather than ‘problems’. In this Podcast I look at the great book, the great strategy and how it will make a real big difference in your own life.
