Talking Health and Healing with Long-time Yogi David Goulet

Hiya,

When I say that David Goulet has been doing yoga for a long time, I mean a LONG time – like he started back in 1969 – and his practices have meant he has maintained optimum health and vitality. Plus he has helped numerous people over the years reverse major disease and even terminal illnesses.

David is the founder of Pyramid Yoga in Koh Phangan, and has developed a practice he calls Chakra Yoga. He started practicing hatha yoga in 1969, and completed an extensive yoga training at Ananda Ashram in India in 1972, under the tutelage of Swami Gitananda, who had studied yoga in his teenage years with Ram Gopal Muzumdar (referred to in Yogananda’s Autobiography of a Yogi as “the Sleepless Saint.”).

Swami Gitananda also studied medicine in England, and practiced in USA and Canada, so brought this insight into his traditional practices.

David is in his 70’s, healthy and vital and recently has his biological age measured, which was 25 years younger than his birth age. He is a man that practices what he teaches. If I was ever seriously ill, I would head off to Thailand to spend time under David’s tutelage, and work on reversing my illness.

How to Improve the Most Important Thing We Do – Breathing!!

Hiya,

I was thinking that this month instead of a guided meditation, I would talk about one of the most important things we can do for our physical and mental health.

It is (obviously) BREATHING.

But here is the thing. Most people are crap at it. They are lucky to access about 10-20% of the oxygen available to them because of their breathing techniques.

In this podcast I talk a bit about breathing in general – what reduces it and improves it – plus I teach you the 3-Part Full Yogic Breath.

Listen, even as a reminder, and knowing that if you increase your OXYGEN by 20%, it will give you up to 20% more ENERGY. A total WIN-WIN situation.

Talking the Lifeline Technique with Katrina Heuskes (One of My FAVOURITE Techniques)

Katrina Heuskes is not only an amazing practitioner of The Lifeline Technique, but has been my ‘therapist’ for the last 6+ years. She has helped me SO much over the years.

The technique was created and developed by Dr Darren Weissman, a chiropractor, kinesiologist, best-selling author, who is also well versed in Chinese medicine.

Guided Meditation: Making Decisions Using Your Innate Inner Wisdom (and Head, Heart and Gut)

This Guided Meditation is a little different from normal, as I have created it to help you make any decisions that you are working with at the moment.

In my book – Decision Making Mastery – I talk about one of the most important things to making good decisions is to be in the right state – physically and emotionally.

In this guided meditation I take that one step further. I help you get in the right state, but I also help you tap into your Head, Heart and Gut when it comes to decision making. Too often we just use our head, and miss out on the innate wisdom in our whole body.

Take a decision you are working on, into the meditation, and use the meditation to get a better sense about the right decision for you.

How to Build Better Humans (Good Exercise and Nutrition are not Enough)

Hiya,

So I was recently working out in a Crossfit gym in Bali and I was reading their tagline. It was ‘Building Better Humans’. That is a great target to be aiming for. I am a fan.

However, as I saw people immersed with their phones (taking lots of pictures of themselves), strutting around like peacocks, showing off their 6-packs, and their moves on the rings or horizontal bars, I started to question the ‘better’ bit. There was also a strong feeling of ‘competition’ and ‘hey look at me’.

As a result – and inspired by my research into my book ‘The Guidebook to Optimum Health’ – I started to look again at what needs to be added to the exercise arsenal, when it comes to creating better humans. Because a really fit-looking narcissist is not a ‘better human’ in my mind. 🙂

I think there are two other BIG things to focus on, which I share in this podcast.

Get your SAGE on and Get Out of Your Head

Hiya,

This week, we are in Sage Week of the Become a Natural SuperHuman workshop, so I thought I would talk a little bit on what it means to draw forth your inner SAGE.   

Too often we limit out decision making and navigation in life to what our head is telling us. Which can often take us off track – especially when it comes to longer term things like your destiny, mission, purpose or dharmic path. You need to tap into something deeper to see and sense the bigger picture.

This is what I mean about getting out of your head.
You need to go deeper – into your heart and into your deeper being.
