Talking Health and Healing with Long-time Yogi David Goulet

Hiya,

When I say that David Goulet has been doing yoga for a long time, I mean a LONG time – like he started back in 1969 – and his practices have meant he has maintained optimum health and vitality. Plus he has helped numerous people over the years reverse major disease and even terminal illnesses.

David is the founder of Pyramid Yoga in Koh Phangan, and has developed a practice he calls Chakra Yoga. He started practicing hatha yoga in 1969, and completed an extensive yoga training at Ananda Ashram in India in 1972, under the tutelage of Swami Gitananda, who had studied yoga in his teenage years with Ram Gopal Muzumdar (referred to in Yoganandaโ€™s Autobiography of a Yogi as โ€œthe Sleepless Saint.โ€).

Swami Gitananda also studied medicine in England, and practiced in USA and Canada, so brought this insight into his traditional practices.

David is in his 70’s, healthy and vital and recently has his biological age measured, which was 25 years younger than his birth age. He is a man that practices what he teaches. If I was ever seriously ill, I would head off to Thailand to spend time under David’s tutelage, and work on reversing my illness.

I think you will enjoy this conversation, and I intend to get David back for Round 2 in the not-too-distant future.

Enjoy.

How to Improve the Most Important Thing We Do – Breathing!!

Hiya,

I was thinking that this month instead of a guided meditation, I would talk about one of the most important things we can do for our physical and mental health.

It is (obviously) BREATHING.

But here is the thing. Most people are crap at it. They are lucky to access about 10-20% of the oxygen available to them because of their breathing techniques.

In this podcast I talk a bit about breathing in general – what reduces it and improves it – plus I teach you the 3-Part Full Yogic Breath.

Listen, even as a reminder, and knowing that if you increase your OXYGEN by 20%, it will give you up to 20% more ENERGY. A total WIN-WIN situation.

Enjoy…and then DO. ๐Ÿ™‚

Take care
Carl

Talking Yoga: The 4 Essential Elements for a Complete (and effective) Yoga Practice

A complete yoga practice

Let’s talk yoga.

I started practicing yoga in 1999 (back in the 1900’s ;-)), and have done lots of classes and yoga retreats over that time. Plus I was a co-owner of a Yoga Centre in Bali called The Practice, for 5 years. So it is definitely a big part of my life.

Just yesterday I was asked by someone – given the years I have practiced – if I can do all the ‘advanced’ and difficult postures. I said ‘no’ and that is not really what yoga is all about.

Hence I felt compelled to share with you what I perceive is the most effective practice of yoga, and what I often called the “Original Science of Happiness“.

Discover the 4 Elements of a complete and highly effective yoga practice. By ‘effective’ I mean most likely to support you becoming the most awesome human you can be.

For other conversations on ‘meditationgo here

Sign up for my newsletter at my website, so you can be informed when I go deeper into the subject of yoga with Octavio Salvado (The Practice) and his teacher – David Goulet – who started doing yoga the year I was born (1969)!

Have a super day.
Take care

Conversation (Part 2): Talking Health, Healing and Optimizing with Sharon Cavanaugh

This month in Conversations with Carl, I teamed up for Part 2 of my conversation with Sharon Cavanaugh, who is a coaching colleague of mine currently based in Florida, USA.

One of the main things I wanted to talk about was her experience at a Dr Joe Dispenza Advanced workshop. I actually wrote a blog post on one of the insights that Dr Joe shared about ‘over-trying‘ and ‘over-surrendering‘. I called it Two Common Mistakes When Manifesting Desires.

We also spoke more about meditation – why it is so impactful and how to create a lasting practice.

Sharon said one of her favourite books at the moment is:
Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff by Richard Carlson.

We also go into ‘goal setting’ and ensuring we are in alignment with our inner self.
Plus lots more.

Check it out. Enjoy.
And please share.

Take care

How to Tap in to The Wisdom of Your Body and Decode It

Hiya,

Do you want to learn how to tap into the wisdom of your body?
Do you also want to learn how to decode the secret (and very wise) messages of the body?

Then this is the podcast for you.

I talk about how it is ESSENTIAL for our health and healing journey to be more attuned to our bodies and to be willing to experience discomfort, so we can learn what is REALLY going on and what are the probably CAUSES, as opposed to merely the current symptoms.

This really is essential listening if you care about your health – especially because most of what we are taught about symptoms and health are pretty much incomplete or completely wrong.

Self education is where it is at, so let the learning and GROWING begin.

The two books I mention in the Podcast are:
1. You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay
2. The Secret Language of Your Body by Inna Segal

As always if you have any questions or need help working through your own health challenges (and symptoms) don’t hesitate to reach out for support.

Have a great day.
Take care

Book Review: The Real Anthony Fauci (and Is ignorance bliss?)

Hiya,

Thanks for joining me for this Book Review podcast, which I was wondering how best to present.

The first thing I ask, at the start of the podcast is whether “ignorance is bliss” and at the end I finish with what I think about ignorance being bliss’.

The author of the book I am talking on today, who comes from a very well known US family (his uncle was President JFK and his father was a former US Attorney General).

Robert Kennedy Jnr was once the darling of the talk shows, environmentalists, liberals, and most people in general, as he (as a lawyer) was taking to court industries and regulating bodies that were poisoning the waterways in the USA with toxic heavy metals like mercury. People loved him and knew he cared about the people – just like President JFK.

However, he was then approached by a number of concerned citizens about potential harmful ingredients in vaccines, and suddenly, he was no longer a darling, but a conspirator. It seems he poked the wrong bear. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I am a HUGE fan of LEARNING, and learning requires us to quest for knowledge. And quest for knowledge from different sources and different people. And with over 2000 references & footnotes, and the input of hundreds of doctors, scientists and researchers, this is a very well presented (and yes very revealing) source of knowledge and potential wisdom.

Do check it out, and then make up your own mind about what you want to believe and perceived.
It turns out…ignorance is NOT bliss. ๐Ÿ˜‰

All the very best.

Why and How to Be Your Own Doctor

Hiya,

This might be a little bit of a controversial subject, given the last year, but if you have been listening to me for awhile, you know I am a believer in each of us being SuperHuman, and being WAY more powerful than we have been lead to believe.

We have also seen over the last 2 years some terrible decisions, presented by official agencies and official sounding people, when it comes to things that protect or increase our health.

I am sorry, but I think I care more about me (and have to care more about me) than someone else who is busy, probably tired, stressed, has lots of other patients, is ‘on the clock’, and probably does not have time to do research on optimum health or even practice it themselves.

It is time for us to be the ‘second opinion’ when it comes to the diagnosis for any ailments we have. Anyway, check out the podcast. I rant a little bit – but hopefully not too much.

I know you get this.
Now it is time to trust in yourself and capabilities more and step into your power of self.

If you want to power up in the company of a great small group of SuperHumans for 9-months, do check out my 9-month Coaching & Mastermind Program. Click here for all the details.

All the very best and take care.
Carl

Caveat: I am not a Doctor or ‘registered’ medical professional, so if you do have any serious illnesses, do consult with a professional (and then be the ‘second opinion’.ย

Book Review: The Wim Hof Method by Wim Hof

Hiya,

This is not only a great book, but it is a great book about a great technique that has the potential to make huge impacts on peoples health. The validation of its method are from the 1000’s of people that have got positive and sometime miraculous results, plus the feedback from numerous scientific studies that have been done on Wim Hof.

For me personally, after about 10 days of practice, I can already feel less inflammation in my knees. I am loving that outcome!!

If you don’t know Wim Hof, just do a search on the Iceman on YouTube and you will get a sense of what he is capable of (including having about 26 world records to his name). More importantly he was able to survive and thrive after his wife committed suicide, leaving him 4 young children. His story is quite amazing.

I loved reading about the origins of the Wim Hof Method. How he came to understand the benefits and unique combination of breathwork, cold exposure and mindset.

I also love Wim Hof’s philosophy about getting out of the comfort zone and us being a little too dependent on ‘things’ to keep us comfortable, and as a result have lost some resiliency and a lot of human potential – physically and mentally.

I encourage you to read the book – but more importantly I encourage you to try the method for yourself. Wim Hof even has an App to make it easier for you to do. It is an excellent daily investment in your health – only 20 mins a day!!

Have a fantastic day.

Understanding the Difference between Hunger (real) and Cravings (illusion)

Hiya,

I had a very remarkable experience recently. I have been interesting in understanding more about fasting, intermittent fasting, metabolic flexibility and suchlike subjects, so last week I committed to a 5-day water only fast.

Now before I go any further, I don’t recommend you do this without supervision, so no racing off and turning off the food tap, and turning on the water tap, before you have done adequate preparation.

What i want to share in this podcast episode is one of the most profound insights from doing the fast. It was truly understanding the difference between HUNGER (a physiological ‘need’) and CRAVINGS, which it turns out are more of a psychological thing as opposed to a real or useful signal to stop us from starving to death.

Listen to my take on the difference between the two, and listen all the way to the end, so you can get your homework assignment too. It could be a game-changer for you.

Also if you need a hand making any tough decisions, now or in the near future, and want some support, ideas, and strategies, then don’t hesitate to get in touch. That truly is my specialty, and I would love to help out.

Have an great day.
Take care
Carl

FAT: The Facts and The Fiction

Hiya,

I just watched a great documentary the other night – which was free on YouTube – and called ‘Fat Fiction‘. Over the years (the last 20) I have read lots of book on health and for nutrition. This was a great presentation and collection of some of the things I have learned over the years.

It talked about the role of fat, the role of cholesterol, the obesity epidemic and some of the causal factors, and a  lot more. So do check it out. Here is the link.

The book I have read that also addressed the very important subject of our understanding of cholesterol is ‘The Great Cholesterol Myth‘ by Bowden and Sinatra (not the singer).

The other book I mentioned is by Kelly brogan MD, called ‘A Mind of Your Own‘, which I highly recommend. The book is aimed towards women with any sort of mental health issues (anxiety, depression, etc.), but it is equally insightful for the dudes. ๐Ÿ™‚

I said you could access a FREE copy of my Audiobook version of ‘Decision Making Mastery‘ by going to this link: https://www.carlmassy.com/o/bonus/win-win-win/
(I just want more people making great decisions.

And that is all from me.
Reach out via my contact page if you have some important decisions to make or transitions to make, as I would be happy to help out.

Have a great day.
Take care
