Who Do You Need to BECOME? A Combination of Leader, Warrior & Sage

Over the last 18 months, while I have been working with my clients, I have been thinking about how best to serve them, plus how can I best serve them ‘moving forward’.

I think we can all agree (unless you are in the billionaires club), that 2020 and 2021 are among the most challenging and uncertain times and experiences that each of us have likely faced in our lives.

I also don’t think things are going to settle down to stability, certainty, harmony and unity anytime soon. Would you agree that that is a fair enough statement? I wish for different, but I like to think of myself as a realistic optimist.

3 Ideas to Help with Your Decision-Making Upskilling

Just recently I recorded a 3-Part Series on Decision Making Mastery on my LIFE MASTERCLASS Podcast series, which I figured would be of value and benefit for you. I also thought if you got something out of these presentations, you might then do yourself a favour and grab a copy of my book too. 😉

The 3-Part Series includes the following three presentations, which you can watch on YouTube (the links below will take you to the YouTube presentations):

WHAT ARE YOU BEING ASKED TO BE, BECOME OR DO THIS YEAR?

growing

On the back-end of 2020, I decided that when I sat down and gave my full attention to what I wanted out of this new year, I would take an even deeper approach to that question.

And as I like to teach: great answers come from great questions.

‘What do I want in 2021?’ is a pretty lame question; so it did not get any attention. And to merely ask what I wanted to do in 2021 was still not cutting the grade. It was not taking the conversation deep enough.

After a very whacky 2020 and the fallout still washing over into 2021, it was time to go a lot deeper. So I headed to my favourite bungalow in Candi Dasa (at Pondok Pisang), and while sitting on a sun bed, looking out over nothing but the ocean and the skyline, I got out my diary and worked on answering a number of questions to the best of my ability.

A (LONG) LIST OF MY BOOK RECOMMENDATIONS

I have read 100’s of books over the last 20 years, when I made a commitment to self education through reading non-Fiction books. It really was a game changer for me. Here is a list of some of my favourites – by topic. I have an asterix besides some of my more favourite favourites. I like to read quite broadly, so that I am more likely to come up with novel and creative ideas, but putting different pieces together in unique ways.

Generally I have 2-4 books going at once.

  1. A business related book
  2. A self-help book
  3. A more technical book to enhance my skills as a coach (e.g. psychology, neuroscience, epigenetics, nutrition, etc.)
  4. A fiction book (mostly something far removed from ‘reality’, but with good messages built into them)

A Holistic Investment Strategy

investment

How about I just come straight out and say it.
If your investment strategy does not include ALL parts of your life, you might want to go back to the drawing board.

What good is an investment strategy that is one-dimensional, when life is a multi-dimensional experience? In The Guidebook to Authentic Success, I talk about the importance to consider all facets of your life, so you don’t become hyper-fixated on one area of your life, while other parts of your life turn to poop.

For those who want a reminder of the 8 Pillars when it comes to AUTHENTIC Success, they are:

  1. Daily Joy
  2. High Quality Relationships
  3. Feeling Connected
  4. Growing / Evolving
  5. Meaningful Life Goals
  6. Financial Flow
  7. Being Aligned with Authentic Self
  8. Optimum Health & Vitality

The Number 1 Thing Necessary to Making Great Decision

time outFor those that don’t know; I am in the middle of writing Book 5 (I just passed the 25,000 word mark on the weekend).
A long time ago I had set this goal of completing 5 books in 10 years. The end of 2020 will be the end of the 10 years, and I am still on track to make my goal. Woohoo!!

The book I am writing at the moment is on decision-making mastery.
And lucky for me (as part of my research in 2020) there are lots of public cases of what not to do, and fortunately there are also great examples of great decision making. I have a clear idea of the DO’s and DON’Ts.

So in this article I will share with you what I think is the most impactful element of high quality decision-making.

I will also be encouraging you to get very good at the ‘time out‘ signal – like they use in a basketball game when the team needs to centre and reorganise themselves. You make the letter ‘T’ with both hands.

The Message I Most Want to Share

humanI was very excited about 2020.
I was thinking that it would be an amazing year of possibility and potential. It had the potential to be something truly unique, memorable and great.

Now of the list of things I thought might unfold in 2020, the idea that one of the trillions and trillions of viruses on the planet would be the main player and the world economy would be rattled significantly was not even in my Top 100. If I had a list of Top 500, it probably would not have featured there either. Maybe I am not watching enough world ending catastrophe movies!

So what has this experience taught me, and what do I most want to share, in order to be best serve people?

My role for the last 15 years – since I wrote my first Newsletter in 2005 – has been to learn as much as I could about HEALTH (physical, mental, emotional, psychological, and spiritual) in order for me to digest and trial the best of the best and then pass what I have learned to others. In 2008 this joyfully became my full-time job.

I have always believed as individuals we have an incredible amount of power and untapped power to become truly remarkable human beings, who can make remarkable contributions to the people around us and the world itself (and even beyond our planet).

I have one principle message I want to speak on today, so there is a potential this Newsletter might be my shortest ever (but I have been wrong before!).

A Strategy to Reduce Stress, Overwhelm and Crazy Person Syndrome

essentialThis article follows on somewhat from my last post where I talked about increasing productivity, creativity and effectiveness, but it is inspired by a book I recently finished reading called Essentialism by Greg McKeown.

If I was to choose to describe the way that I primarily live, my guiding philosophy, I would call myself a bit of a Stoic, and having read this book, I would say I am also a bit of an essentialist. There is actually a lot of overlap between stoicism and essentialism.

The motto of an essentialist philosophy is: LESS BUT BETTER

I am not sure about you, but I am liking the sound of that!

Who would like less commitments, responsibilities, projects or tasks on their plate?
I sure as hell have my hand up for that.

Let me explain a little bit more about what essentialism is, and then share some specific strategies.

3 Simple Practices to Increase Your Productivity, Creativity and Effectiveness

waterI don’t know about you; but I like the idea of getting MORE out of LESS.

Spending less time and energy and getting bigger outputs and RESULTS.Does that sound of interest for you too? If so, you have come to the right place.

Recently I was away for a couple of nights with my business colleague on a ‘work getaway’ where we aimed to get really clear on our business initiatives, develop some creative ideas for a project and also to establish how to get the most effective results possible.I realised while I was there I was SUPER productive, creative and effective at doing the work thing and so I thought I would do a quick analysis to see what made that place experience so effective, and how could I bring that level of output back to my (home) office.

Confidence is Overrated (and Not Necessary for Success)

courageAt the time of this writing, I have been coaching a wide range of individuals, from all over the world, and from every walk of life for a little over 12 years.

And one of the most common things people tell me they want more of is ‘confidence’.

Somewhere along the line we have bought into the idea that CONFIDENCE = SUCCESS.
And that without ‘confidence’ you won’t succeed, or realise your dreams.

Here is what do I say to that?

“BULLSH#T!!!!”
