I recently saw David Wolfe at a seminar in Perth and he was so passionate, dedicated, curious and tenacious about food and our optimum health that I was at the health food store for an hour yesterday and left with an armful of goodies. He is just what we need - an explorer that is on a quest to find the very best things we can put into our bodies to increase our energy, extend our life, cure disease and create amazing inner and outer health. So here are just some of the incredible things I picked up during the seminar:

Water. If you can; always drink Spring Water. And if you are in a place where you can and do drink tap water ABSOLUTELY make sure that you filter the water. Or YOU will become the filter! Apparently the number one pollutant in tap water is 'toilet paper'. It breaks down to a certain level, but stops there. And somehow ends up in the water system. Not cool. So filter up.

Walking barefoot on the earth. This was actually one of his TOP 6 things for increased longevity! It is that important. The earth has a negative charge and the atmosphere a positive charge, so by grounding ourselves on the earth we balance our circadian rhythms (as opposed to insulating ourselves with rubber soled shoes). We get back into alignment. Also our body functions via numerous electrical processes, so balancing ourselves energetically is a must. If you really pay attention to the feeling you have when you walk on the ground barefoot, you will be amazed at the positive energy that you feel. Also, have you ever heard the 'theory' where you walk barefoot after a flight to reduce your jet lag. This makes so much sense now. On a flight you are subjected to so much EMF, that the idea of grounding yourself when you land is an absolute must!

Superfoods. Now here are just some of the superfoods (and benefits) that he mentioned:

Aloe Vera (apparently Cleopatra used to bath in it for her beauty treatments). It aids digestion. Increases healing of cuts & burns. Destroys internal parasites. Increases blood flow. Removes toxins. Increases immune system. Has vitamin's A, B12, C & E. Plus trace minerals, calcium, and enzymes. That is some pretty awesome hit list!

Goji Berries (No 1 Chinese superfood). Excellent complete protein source. Plus trace minerals. Antioxidants. Vitamin's C, B, and E. Anti inflammatory. Fatty acids. Anti fungal & Bacteria compounds. Little wonder it is the No 1 Chinese Superfood!!

Spirulina (South America & Africa). Another perfect protein source that is easily absorbed by the body. Unlike meat which requires a significant amount of energy to break down. Plus it is said to have over 100 nutrients!! How is that for a complete food??

Garlic. Natural antibiotic. And said to increase the immune system.

Seaweed. Loaded with all the trace minerals that we need. And a number of vitamins as well. Plus said to assist in metabolism. And again it is a great source of alkaline, which is a must for optimum health. 

Celery. No calories, but very high in energy (the type of energy measured in megahertz). So adding a daily vegetable juice with celery, lemon juice, cucumber, parsley, apple, carrot, etc. is one of the tickets to increased vitality.

Raw Cacao. The base of chocolate. Great antioxidants, plus it improves circulation (lowers blood pressure). But this does not mean that you shovel in a kg of Cadbury Dairy Milk Chocolate to improve your health! Go for raw organic dark chocolates or raw cacao powder. 

Honey. Lots of antibodies in it.Trace minerals. Plus a number of B group vitamins. Local honey is great too if you have challenges with seasonal allergies.

Calcium Supplements. He categorically said DO NOT take any pharmaceutical calcium supplements. Most of them come from mines in Mexico where they crush up age-old shells (sort of like putting barnacles and coral into your body - not good). Arthritis is actually an excess of calcification around the joints. Plus he linked lots of other illnesses to calcification. Just as an aside, some of the main causes of low calcium in bones is:
    Hormone imbalance
    Lack of minerals
    Lack of natural sunshine
    Not being grounded with the earth (barefoot)
    Not doing load bearing exercises (this increases bone density)
    Eating foods that leach calcium like caffeine, alcohol, excess meat, soft drinks, alcohol (and cigarettes).

Mercury Fillings. Mercury is about 10 times more toxic than DDT (which was used during the Vietnam War to kill the jungle vegetation). So to have mercury in your mouth is such a bad idea, especially when it is so close to the brain. There is every chance that the mercury is leaching into your blood stream. So if you have any mercury fillings do yourself a huge favour and get them out!

Cigarettes. Do I really need to say anything on these? David talked about spending time with a Sharman in South America who had been smoking for about 70 years, and was still in decent health. He said that the main problem is the 4000 chemicals in the cigarettes! How the heck can you pack 4000 chemicals into something so small?!?

IN SUMMARY:

1.    Drink Spring Water or absolutely get a water filter.
2.    Walk barefoot on the earth every day.
3.    Don't take calcium supplements (eat more greens, nuts, seeds or superfoods).
4.    Don't smoke...ah...yeah.
5.    Get rid of mercury fillings...asap!
6.    Add some of the superfoods to your diet. Especially a fresh vegetable juice in the morning. It will make a huge difference to your energy and vitality. Did you know that adding lemon to your water actually alkalises the water?
