Time that Really matters

Wall Clock Last Thursday I started breakfast at 9:30am and didn’t finish until midday! I was with a group of people, but we weren’t focused on work (given that it was a ‘w ork’ day), we were focused on life. We weren’t just focused on how to make more money, or become more successful, or have more stuff, we were talking about how to get more enjoyment and growth out of our lives. And by getting more life out of life, then the other stuff just takes care of itself.

The catalyst for the get-together was that a good friend of mine had recently gone to see Eckhart Tolle at a 3-day seminar in Australia. I had recently read his book ‘A
New Earth’ and I wanted to know what the actual man was about. So I organised for another friend of mine - who had some life changing moments as a result of r eading that book - and my girlfriend to meet and discuss some of his messages.

And one of Eckhart Tolle’s messages was best described by one of the little life changing moments that was described by my friend. He had a two year old daughter that was a little reluctant about getting into this whole play group thing. And what initiall y started as tears lead to a full on tantrum by day 3. But then my friend described to his 2-year old daughter that she does not have to be sad. She does not have to feel that way. He looked her in the eyes and then tapped his chest and said her name followed by ‘…is happy’. She copied this a few times and then the tears dropped off. And now days there are no tears and if she gets a little sad, she remembers to tap herself on the chest and say that she is happy. News Flash: the 2-year old gets it!! The problem is that too many older and wiser people think this is just too simple to make sense.

Anyway, that story was just one of the stories that got stared at the table. There were also stories and examples of where someone allowed themselves to believe that something was possible and then it actually turned out that way. They raised the bench mark in their minds and then it raised the bench mark in the physical world. And the good stuff just flowed and flowed and I was nothing short of shocked when I checked the time and it was midday. The morning had just flown. There were probably some other work things that I could have been doing but they were not going to change my life. We had just spent a morning opening ourselves up to life, to possibilities, to new ideas, to something greater than all of us put together.

That time we spent together that morning is time that really mattered. And we all left with a smile on our faces, a warm feeling in our hearts and a new spring in our steps. So take time out and spend it with people that you care about and who you can open up to. Be curious about the bigger picture. And know that time spent working on your life as a whole, making you a more complete being, opening your heart up to more love and possibility is the stuff that really matters.

For the record: ‘A New Earth’ by Eckhart Tolle is a great book so do read it. Also my friend brought back a DVD of Louise Hay called ‘You Can Heal Your Life’. If you have any friends or family with cancer or other major illnesses, then you and they could get a lot out of watching this. It presents a very clear message, delivered by a number of highly qualified people and scientists. Basically our thoughts create our reality. Change your thoughts and you change your world.

Try this affirmation: “I love and approve of myself”
It will definitely keep you real!

Have a superb week with lots of LOVE!
Carl
